The California Pork Producers Association is reminding students and young leaders involved in the swine industry that applications are now open for the 2026 Golden Opportunity Scholarship program.

The scholarship opportunity supports the next generation of pork industry leaders and recognizes youth who are actively involved in California’s swine industry through exhibition, leadership, and agricultural education programs. Applications for the 2026 scholarship program are due June 30, 2026.

The Golden Opportunity Scholarship program is closely connected to the California Youth Ag Expo, one of California’s premier youth livestock events. Scholarship recipients are recognized during the California Youth Ag Expo in Tulare, where many of the state’s top youth swine exhibitors gather each summer to showcase their projects, leadership skills, and involvement in animal agriculture.

Eligible applicants include current or former California Youth Ag Expo swine exhibitors between the ages of 17 and 25 who are pursuing higher education, trade school opportunities, or careers connected to agriculture and the pork industry. Scholarship funds are supported through the annual Golden Opportunity Sale, which highlights elite California-bred gilts while helping invest back into the future of youth involved in pork production and livestock agriculture.

The California Pork Producers Association says the scholarship program reflects the organization’s continued commitment to strengthening the future of pork production, youth leadership, and agricultural education across California. The organization continues to support pork producers through advocacy, outreach, education, and youth development programs focused on the future of the swine industry.
