INDIANAPOLIS — Swine health remains one of the pork industry’s highest priorities, and National Junior Summer Spectacular attendees will have an opportunity to hear directly from industry experts during the upcoming “Flight Check” Swine Health Briefing on Monday, June 29.

The educational session will be held from 3 to 5 p.m. at the Fall Creek Pavilion, Ring A, during the 2026 National Junior Summer Spectacular (NJSS). Organizers say the event is designed to provide updates on some of the most important animal health challenges facing the U.S. swine industry, including Porcine Epidemic Diarrhea (PED), Porcine Reproductive and Respiratory Syndrome (PRRS), Circovirus, African Swine Fever (ASF), New World Screwworm and other emerging disease concerns.

The briefing will feature a panel of respected swine health and industry leaders, including Dr. Daniel Hendrickson of Four Star Veterinary Service and Stoney Creek Veterinary Service, Dr. Bret Marsh, dean of Purdue University’s College of Veterinary Medicine and former Indiana State Veterinarian, Clay Parrish, Showpig Industry Relations Manager with the National Pork Board, Doug Albright of Albright Swine Farm and Dr. Aaron Slater of Four Star Veterinary Service and Stoney Creek Veterinary Service.

As producers and swine exhibitors, swine health is everyone’s responsibility, making continued education and awareness critical for youth exhibitors, pork producers, veterinarians and industry stakeholders alike. The event will focus on current disease threats, biosecurity measures and precautions that can help protect the nation’s swine herd.

In addition to the educational program, attendees can enjoy free ice cream beginning at 3 p.m.

The Swine Health Briefing is powered by Four Star Veterinary Service, National Swine Registry, Pork Checkoff, MWI Animal Health and Zoetis. Organizers encourage NJSS exhibitors, families and pork industry supporters to attend and stay informed on the latest developments impacting swine health and biosecurity.

For pork producers, youth exhibitors and industry professionals, the session offers an opportunity to hear firsthand updates from experts while reinforcing the importance of protecting pig health through strong biosecurity practices and disease prevention efforts.
