The Iowa Latino Hospitality Council is inviting restaurant owners, employees, and their families from across Iowa to lace up their cleats and compete in the inaugural Copa de Restaurantes Latinos Iowa, a family-focused soccer tournament scheduled for July 4, 2026, in West Des Moines.
The event will take place from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at 6500 Grand Avenue, West Des Moines, and is designed specifically for Iowa’s restaurant and hospitality community. Organizers describe the tournament as an opportunity for restaurant families to step away from their daily routines, enjoy friendly competition, and celebrate the strong connections that exist within Iowa’s Latino hospitality industry. The event is intended to bring together restaurateurs and their families in a positive, family-oriented atmosphere while encouraging teamwork, community engagement, and healthy competition. Admission for spectators is free, and attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and spend the day supporting participating teams.
The tournament will also feature a significant incentive for competitors. Organizers announced that the winning team will have the opportunity to earn a $1,000 grand prize.
The Iowa Latino Hospitality Council has become a growing resource for Iowa’s hospitality industry, providing education, professional development, networking opportunities, and business support for Latino-owned restaurants and hospitality businesses throughout the state. The organization was established to help connect hospitality entrepreneurs with resources, training, and industry expertise while strengthening Iowa’s restaurant community.
For restaurant owners and employees looking to participate, registration is currently open through the Iowa Latino Hospitality Council. At Pork Industry News, we have enjoyed covering the Iowa Latino Hospitality Council’s efforts to support Iowa’s restaurant industry. The organization has also been a strong supporter of Iowa agriculture and Iowa pork, helping build connections between restaurant professionals and the state’s food production community.
