Youth interested in pig farming, pork production, and the future of the U.S. swine industry have a valuable opportunity coming up this summer in South Dakota.

The 2026 South Dakota Swine Summit is designed to connect the next generation of pork producers with hands-on learning, industry-leading education, and real-world experience inside modern hog barns. From biosecurity and swine nutrition to animal evaluation and daily pig care, this one-day event highlights the essential skills and farm technologies shaping today’s pork industry.

Hosted at South Dakota State University, the summit reinforces the importance of youth engagement in agriculture while strengthening the pipeline of future swine professionals across the Midwest and beyond.
