Farm Credit Services of America Supports Swine Barn Improvements
The South Dakota State Fair Foundation announced the $15,000 contribution from Farm Credit Services of America as part of the ongoing effort to improve the experience for both exhibitors and livestock housed in the Swine Barn.
The “Hog Wild for a Better Barn” campaign represents an investment in the future of South Dakota agriculture and the state’s livestock exhibition programs. Replacing the barn’s hog pens will provide updated facilities for the hundreds of pigs exhibited during the annual South Dakota State Fair.
Investing in the Next Generation of Pork Producers
State and county fairs play an important role in connecting consumers with agriculture while providing young people involved in 4-H, FFA and livestock programs opportunities to develop skills in animal care, responsibility and agricultural leadership.
For South Dakota’s pork industry, improvements to livestock facilities also help ensure future generations of exhibitors have quality spaces to showcase their animals and tell the story of modern pork production.
The South Dakota State Fair Foundation continues its fundraising efforts for the Hog Wild for a Better Barn campaign, with Farm Credit Services of America’s $15,000 pledge helping move the project toward its goal of purchasing 450 new hog pens.
