National Swine Registry Announces Kale Boysen as 2026 Exposition Showmanship Judge
The National Swine Registry has announced that Kale Boysen of Columbus Junction, Iowa, will serve as the Novice and Intermediate Showmanship judge at the 2026 NJSA Exposition.
Boysen developed a passion for livestock at a young age while growing up in southeast Iowa and participating in raising and exhibiting animals. That passion has continued into both his professional career and family life.
Boysen and his wife, Kelsey, own and operate KBoysen Showpigs, a 75-head crossbred and purebred sow operation. Together, they are raising their two children, Stetson and Sutton, while remaining active in the livestock industry.
A graduate of Black Hawk Community College and Iowa State University, Boysen competed on the nationally recognized livestock judging teams at Black Hawk during the 2015 and 2016 seasons before earning his bachelor’s degree from Iowa State.
Today, Boysen remains involved in the swine industry through judging, breeding, and mentoring young exhibitors. The National Swine Registry noted that he values the hard work, responsibility, and sportsmanship that showmanship competition teaches youth exhibitors and is looking forward to evaluating competitors during The Exposition.
The National Swine Registry also shared that additional judges for the 2026 Exposition will be announced in the coming days. The Exposition returns to the Iowa State Fairgrounds in Des Moines, Iowa, June 7–12, 2026, bringing together junior exhibitors, breeders, and swine industry leaders from across the country for one of the premier youth livestock events in the nation. Featuring junior shows for all major swine breeds including Duroc, Hampshire, Landrace, Yorkshire, Berkshire, Chester White, Poland China, Spotted, Hereford, Tamworth, and Crossbred, the event highlights the next generation of the pork industry through competition, leadership, and family involvement. The week will also feature the NSR Open Show and Sale, showcasing elite genetics and top-quality breeding stock from across the industry. From the show ring to networking opportunities, The Exposition continues to celebrate the passion, dedication, and future of the swine industry.
