NEW ALBANY, Ohio — The Ohio Pork Council has welcomed Kayla Barker as its new consumer information director, adding a passionate advocate for pork producers and the swine industry to its growing team.

Barker, of Morrow County, Ohio, grew up on a crop and pig farm and continues to stay actively involved in her family’s show pig operation, Barker Family Farms. Her background in livestock production and agricultural communications brings valuable experience to the organization’s efforts to connect consumers with Ohio agriculture and pork production.
A graduate of The Ohio State University, Barker earned a bachelor’s degree in agriculture with a focus on swine production along with a minor in agricultural communications.
According to Cheryl Day, executive vice president of the Ohio Pork Council, Barker’s passion for agriculture and pork producer advocacy will help strengthen the organization’s outreach and communication efforts across the state.

“The future of Ohio’s pork industry demands a team that is skilled, passionate, and relentless in its pursuit of excellence,” Day said. “Kayla represents exactly the kind of talent and passion we need to take this organization to the next level.”
Barker says joining the Ohio Pork Council allows her to combine her passion for the swine industry with meaningful work supporting pork producers every day.
“Agriculture has always been my foundation, but swine — that is where my heart truly is,” Barker said. “Joining the Ohio Pork Council gives me the rare opportunity to turn that passion into purpose every single day, working alongside an organization that shares my deep commitment to this industry and the producers behind it.”
The Ohio Pork Council was established in 1968 and continues to serve and benefit pork producers throughout Ohio through promotion, education, and industry advocacy.
