Cooper Farms has announced the acquisition of the former JES plant in Celina, continuing the company’s growth in value-added food production and protein processing.

The facility, located at 1800 Industrial Drive, includes a 28,000-square-foot building on 8.85 acres and will become a new value-added further processing plant for the company. Cooper Farms says future capabilities at the site could eventually expand beyond meat processing.

Renovations are already underway as the company prepares the Celina Processing Plant for operations, with production expected to begin in the spring of 2027.

“We are excited for the opportunities this expansion brings,” said Chief Operating Officer Gary Cooper. “Cooper Farms continues to grow both in size and opportunity, and adding this plant will certainly allow us to expand our capabilities.”

For pork producers, the expansion reflects continued investment in U.S. protein processing and value-added food production. Cooper Farms has long been involved in pork production and is recognized as one of the nation’s leading pork producers. The family-owned company raises hogs, turkeys, and laying hens across northwest and west central Ohio while producing fully cooked and ready-to-cook meat products for customers throughout North America.

Founded in 1938, Cooper Farms remains family owned and operated more than 85 years later. The company says vertical integration throughout its pork, turkey, and egg operations allows it to monitor animal care, feed production, processing, and food quality throughout the supply chain.

The company currently employs more than 2,000 team members across multiple Ohio locations and continues investing in swine production, food processing, and workforce development opportunities.

Additional details regarding operations, employment opportunities, and project timelines are expected to be released as development plans continue.
