The Tennessee Pork Producers Association is investing in the future of agriculture leadership with the launch of its new PORK P.A.L. (Promotion. Advocacy. Leadership.) program—bringing pork industry advocacy front and center during Ag Day on the Hill in Nashville. The inaugural class gathered at the State Capitol for a powerful, hands-on experience that highlighted how pork producers and agricultural leaders can directly influence public policy impacting pork production, pig farming, and rural communities across Tennessee.

Participants in the Tennessee PORK P.A.L. program gained real-world exposure to the legislative process by attending committee hearings, engaging with agricultural policy discussions, and connecting with state leaders. The group was formally recognized by the House Agriculture and Natural Resources Committee and met with members of the Tennessee General Assembly—providing a unique opportunity to see how pork industry advocacy and farmer voices shape decisions affecting swine production, livestock agriculture, and the broader ag economy.

Designed to strengthen the next generation of pork industry leaders, the year-long program will focus on leadership development, advocacy training, and effective communication strategies. Participants will learn how to promote the pork industry, build relationships with key stakeholders, and confidently represent modern pork production—from hog farms to consumer engagement—at both the state and national level.

Congratulations to the inaugural Tennessee PORK P.A.L. class members: Abi Sartain, Kailyn McGhee, Garrett Franklin, Lexy Tipton, Katie Pack, Haley Brazel, Kennedy Hill, and Harrison Falcofsky. As these emerging leaders continue their journey, programs like PORK P.A.L. are helping ensure a strong, informed future for pork producers, pig farmers, and the entire U.S. pork industry.
