SHERIDAN, INDIANA — United Animal Health is entering a new chapter of leadership as the global animal nutrition and health company celebrates its 70th anniversary. The company has announced the appointment of Brian Barker as president and chief executive officer, effective October 5, 2026.
Barker brings more than 25 years of executive leadership experience across the agricultural industry, including agribusiness, biotechnology, seed and crop protection. His background in business growth, strategic partnerships and organizational development will help guide United Animal Health as it continues delivering science-based nutrition and health solutions to livestock producers.
Most recently, Barker served as president of GDM North America, overseeing integration and growth initiatives following the company’s acquisition of AgReliant Genetics. Previously, he was president and CEO of AgReliant Genetics, where he led efforts to improve profitability, strengthen business partnerships and position the organization for continued growth. His career also includes executive leadership roles with Corteva Agriscience and Dow AgroSciences.

“Brian is a proven leader with a strong track record of driving growth, leading successful transformations, and developing exceptional teams,” said Ellen Crabb, chair of United Animal Health’s board of directors. Crabb noted that Barker’s agricultural expertise, customer-focused approach and commitment to employees made him a strong choice to lead the company’s next chapter.
For seven decades, United Animal Health has worked alongside livestock producers to advance animal nutrition, health and performance through research and innovation. Headquartered in Sheridan, Indiana, the company develops nutrition and health solutions designed to support animal well-being, production efficiency and long-term producer success. Its work in animal agriculture includes serving the swine industry, where nutrition, animal health and research continue to play important roles in pork production.
Barker expressed enthusiasm for joining the organization and building on its established relationships with producers and industry partners.

“I am honored to join United Animal Health and have tremendous respect for the company’s people, culture, and reputation for innovation,” Barker said. “United Animal Health has built a strong business centered on serving producers and advancing animal agriculture through science and innovation.”

In his new role, Barker will oversee the company’s strategic direction, daily business operations and future growth initiatives, with an emphasis on strengthening customer relationships and advancing research-driven solutions for animal agriculture.
Barker holds both a Master of Business Administration and a bachelor’s degree in business marketing from Indiana University’s Kelley School of Business. He has also completed executive leadership programs through Thunderbird School of Global Management and the University of Chicago Booth School of Business.
As United Animal Health marks 70 years in animal agriculture, the leadership transition comes at a time when livestock producers continue to look toward advances in nutrition, animal health and production efficiency. With Barker at the helm, the company plans to build on its research-focused foundation while expanding opportunities to serve producers and agricultural businesses around the world.
